Wildfires in Los Angeles have now raged for three days, with thousands of homes and businesses and more than 100,000 people impacted in the neighborhoods of Pacific Palisades, Hollywood Hills, Pasadena, and Sylmar. Although the area is no stranger to wildfires, Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said on Thursday this is "one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles." As organizations across the country are pulling resources to donate and help those affected, New York-based fashion label Lingua France has dropped a Los Angeles-themed collection. According to the brand, all the proceeds with benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"I woke up today with a pit in my stomach. The real-time videos and images coming out of the L.A. area are devastating. It’s hard to fathom what family, friends, and strangers are enduring this morning, likely after a sleepless night," the brand's founder, Rachelle Hruska MacPherson, wrote in a newsletter. "I feel utterly useless right now, as I imagine many of you do, too. So what can we do? [...] At Lingua Franca, we’ll do what we always do: stitch."

The collection includes the brand's signature crewneck sweaters stitched with the words "I <3 LA," as well as an option to customize the stitching to mention the community each customer would like to nod to. Both are available in a variety of colors, including navy, gray, and red, and retail for $380.

This is not the first time Lingua Franca has promoted cause-based collections—featuring the brand's signature hand-stitching—through its "Give Back" line. The initiative has raised over $1 million in donations, according to the brand's website, for organizations like the National Network of Abortion Funds, Vote.org, and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Although Lingua Franca is based in New York, the founder mentioned in her newsletter that her husband Sean MacPherson grew up in the impacted area, and pointed to his mother and brand muse, Janet MacPherson, having had three houses burn down during the course of her lifetime. "Even now, I light up with joy when we stumble upon an old, rare never-before-seen photo from his childhood, shared by a cousin or friend. Photos back then weren’t digital, and for me, that loss feels especially cruel in fires like these. I suppose it’s one small consolation in today’s digital age," she wrote.
