BBC Three's upcoming whodunit A Good Girl's Guide to Murder has added Anna Maxwell Martin to its cast.

The Line of Duty star is set to feature opposite Wednesday's Emma Myers, who plays protagonist Pip Fitz-Amobi.

Martin portrays Pip's mother Leanne, while EastEnders and Rye Lane star Gary Beadle plays Pip's father Victor and Ghosts' Mathew Baynton also appears as Elliot Ward.

The six-part drama is an adaptation of the thriller book series by Holly Jackson, who also serves as executive producer.

"I so enjoyed being part of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder," said Martin. "Really lovely cast, crew and creatives. Can't wait for all the people who love Holly's book to see it brought to their screens."

Jackson added: "I am beyond thrilled to finally introduce Anna and Gary as Pip’s parents, Leanne and Victor, and Mathew Baynton as Elliot Ward.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d have such an incredible cast and yet – at the same time – it always had to be them, because they are perfect for these characters.”

The mystery drama wrapped filming in the Southwest of England in September.

Set to air on BBC Three and stream on iPlayer, the gripping series follows Pip as she tries to uncover the truth behind local schoolgirl Andie's murder that happened five years prior. While everyone is convinced her boyfriend Sal did it, Pip isn't buying it and is determined to find out what really happened.

"If Sal Singh isn't a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?" the series' longline reads.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder will stream on BBC Three and Player.
