The Line of Duty cast members reunited for a special meal and were joined by the show’s creator, Jed Mercurio.

Members of the series’ AC-12 (anti-corruption) unit Vicky McClure (who played Kate Fleming), Adrian Dunbar (Ted Hastings) and Martin Compston (Steve Arnott) reunited for drinks at a bistro in London and were joined by creator, Jed.

The meeting sparked many hopeful fans of Line of Duty to ask if a new series could be in the works.

A photo of the evening was shared by both Vicky McClure and Martin Compston on social media. If the group were discussing details of the show, they revealed nothing in their posts. Vicky captioned the image simply “Mates” with a black heart.

Martin, however, hinted at a very different topic of conversation with his own caption, entitling the image, “Talking tattoo designs.”

Fans were quick to comment on both posts, saying, “mother of God let's hope another series,” in reference to Adrian’s character’s catch phrase. Other wrote hopefully, “another season???” and “Series 7, here we come.”

One fan even admitted to zooming in on the image to inspect whether the menus before the group on the table were secretly plot outlines or scripts (unfortunately, just menus!).

While we’ll have to wait to see if any announcements arrive, it seems that cast member Vicky McClure has been enjoying her time off-set in the meantime.

The star had her birthday a few weeks ago and celebrated by sharing a photo surrounded by balloons wearing a party hat on Instagram, saying turning 39 "feel[s] great".

Since then, she has also shared snaps from a family campervan trip to Cornwall, which she said was her first visit to the location.
