Line of Duty star Kelly Macdonald has revealed she won't be watching the finale episode of the series this weekend - because it's too intense.

The actor plays DCI Joanne Davidson in the show, and is right at the heart of the storyline this season. But she just can't bear to watch it back.

Speaking to Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music, Kelly admitted she won't be tuning in, unlike the millions of viewers on the edge of their seats waiting to find out the fate of AC12, the identity of 'H'and the consequences of DCI Davidson's actions.

When asked by Lauren if she'd be watching, she replied: "Hell no! I watched the first episode and I’m sort of, you know - yeah - no!

"It’s not like I don’t ever watch anything that I’ve done but I think just last year, everything it entailed, it’s just was a bit too much for me. I thought I could watch it, I tried to watch it and turns out I can’t watch it."

Kelly revealed the intensity of knowing how many people were watching the show made her nervous. At last count, Line of Duty had 10.9 million viewers, and is the most-watched Uk drama in 13 years.

"I think it’s that [the intensity of the show] and I just know how many people are watching it. It’s so much pressure. I feel like I didn’t put enough thought into it, before I signed on! It’s a lot.

"The cast have been great and they’re the ones that are really in touch and Adrian [Dunbar] said, 'Do you see now, how big it’s become?' And yeah, I do."

The final episode of Line of Duty airs on BBC One on Sunday 2 May at 9pm.
