With the Line Of Duty finale on Sunday [2 May 2021], fan theories about the BBC show have gone into overdrive. Is Patricia Carmichael H? Will Ted Hastings die in the last episode? Where does Steve Arnott buy his waistcoats?

New social media speculation also links Chris Lomax to the OCG, after fans noticed the name of the pub he mentioned.

Chris is a Detective Sergeant in Central Police, assigned to the Murder Investigation Team at Hillside Lane Station for Gail Vella's case. We first meet him in season six, when the police officer is part of Jo Davidson and Kate Fleming's team (or was, before they were both arrested in the penultimate episode), and present at the warehouse with OCG links.

Played by Perry Fitzpatrick, at the end of the last episode, Chris updated Fleming and Arnott on the warehouse findings, and wasn't very happy when Kate ordered him to dig up the floor.

"There's strong evidence of workshopping a firearms..." he tells the AC-12 officers before his exit. "A preliminary report of matches between machinery here and markings on the firearms used in the Jimmy Lakewell ambush."

We then heard Chris on the phone, talking about heading to the pub The Red Lion after work.

A fan theory on Reddit explained, "During the telephone call Chris Lomax was on before Steve and Kate approached him at the industrial unit, Chris finished the called by saying 'Meet you at The Red Lion at 8pm'.

"Isn't this the same pub Carl Banks boasted about the murder of Gail Vella before he was killed? Might be a OCG meeting ground." Another viewed added, "He seemed reluctant to get the floors dug up too."

Other fans on Twitter have a similar opinion about Chris's potential OCG links, pointing out his similarities to The Caddy, aka Dot Cotton, from series three. "Does no one else think Chris Lomax is related to Dot Cottan in some way in Line Of Duty?" one person wrote, while another put, "DS Chris Lomax is H. He is Dot Cotton's brother. I have said it from the beginning of this season as soon as he was introduced."
