Line of Duty co-stars to go head-to-head for National Television Award
Line of Duty co-stars Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston will compete against each other for the same prize at the National Television Awards.
The trio from the BBC police drama has been nominated for the best drama performance award alongside Olly Alexander for It's a Sin, which depicted the AIDS crisis in London in the '80s, and David Tennant for his portrayal of serial killer Dennis Nilsen in the drama Des.
Line of Duty was also nominated for best returning drama, alongside Call the Midwife, The Crown, and Unforgotten, while It's a Sin and Des were shortlisted for best new drama besides Normal People and Netflix smash hit Bridgerton.
Elsewhere in the shortlist, Danny Dyer landed a nod for best serial drama performance for EastEnders, and his co-star Rose Ayling-Ellis, who was recently announced to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing, was nominated for best newcomer for her role as Frankie Lewis in the BBC soap.
Piers Morgan also managed to secure a nomination for Best Presenter despite quitting Good Morning Britain earlier this year over his comments about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. He will compete against Ant and Dec, Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh, and Holly Willoughby.
The National Television Awards will be hosted by comedian Joel Dommett and take place in London on 9 September.
