Watch: Vicky McClure and Martin Compston to get AC-12 tattoos after Line of Duty finale

The season 6 finale of hit police show Line of Duty attracted 12.8 million viewers, a new record for the BBC, when it aired on Sunday 2 May. The show was confirmed by the BBC to be the most-watched episode of any drama since modern records began in 2002 (not including soaps) and was watched by 56.2% of the UK's television audience.

With the confirmation of the new record, LOD star Martin Compston, who plays DI Steve Arnott, has announced that he and some of his co-stars pledged to get matching tattoos if they ever reached 12 million viewers! Taking to Instagram, he said: "Myself, Vicky, Adrian and Jed made an agreement on the inconceivable and ridiculous scenario we ever got twelve million viewers we would get ‘AC12million’ tattoos."

He then teased fans by adding, "we'll see who is good to their word." If the tattoos go ahead, then Martin, Vicky McClure (who plays DI Kate Fleming), Adrian Dunbar (who plays

Superintendent Ted Hastings) and Jed Mercurio, writer of LOD, will have 'AC12million' inked on them in homage to their onscreen squad and record viewer numbers.

We love how much fun the stars seem to have on set and what good friends they seem to be in real life. We can't wait to see who takes up Martin's challenge to celebrate team 'AC12' with a tattoo!
