From House Beautiful

Interior designer and former Changing Rooms star Linda Barker has launched her own range of interior paint, encouraging homeowners to be 'naturally colour confident'.

Linda Barker Paints, described as 'better for the planet, your home and your health', offers super-breathable, virtually odourless, and minimal VOC handcrafted chalk paint for painting interiors or furniture.

With 90 specially selected shades, much of the palette has been inspired by the vast Yorkshire wrap-around landscapes that surround Linda’s home and her favourite UK walks.

'It's with a great sense of pride that I’m launching my own personal paint collection with Linda Barker Paints. I wanted to develop colours that harmonise together easily, bringing the natural colours of the outdoors into the home to create beautiful, fresh interior colour combinations,' explains Linda, whose elegant yet rundown Georgian home in Yorkshire, which is in need of complete renovation, has been the perfect blank canvas for a makeover.

'Design is at the very core of everything I do. The house is a passion project that sees me with a spade and digging fork in the garden, as well as paint brushes and fabrics indoors. It’s the getting back to basics and hands on approach that has helped inspire my paint range.

'Curated with care and consideration and produced by a small, independent UK paint manufacturer, my paints not only make it easy for people to confidently choose colour combinations that really work, but they are also easy to use, no matter your skill level.'

Using the Colour Compass method, all Linda Barker Paints are balanced to create a true mix 'n' match palette, meaning you can choose any two or more colours and they are guaranteed to work well together.

Borrowdale

'Borrowdale (an olive green) is a great colour for a kitchen that brings a bit of edginess and personality into the space; I’m painting my kitchen island in Borrowdale,' says Linda. 'It’s a very strong trend at the moment to use two colours in a room, particularly in kitchens. Borrowdale’s olive hue is a grounding colour for a dynamic kitchen, then on perimeter walls you can introduce a paler colour such as Little Voice.

'This colour combination is a particular favourite because it works beautifully with all the accessories that you have in a kitchen, especially the metal details like taps, handles and appliances. If you decide to opt for the trend of using brass or black metallic details, the palette becomes even more interesting.'

Pocket Fluff

'One of my ideal bedroom combinations pairs Pocket Fluff with Beck. I like dark bedroom spaces to give an embracing feeling, particularly on the wall behind a bed. Some find that a very dark bedroom can be overwhelming and so Beck would balance Pocket Fluff painted on one or two walls with Beck elsewhere, or 3:1 depending on whether you want dark or lighter moods. I’d then add Pen Y Ghent for furniture colours. My contemporary satin paint is excellent for painting furniture, giving great coverage and a lovely smooth finish,' Linda explains.

Linda Barker Paints are available in 1 litre, 2.5 litre and 5 litre pots, and in three finishes which include ultra matte, classic eggshell and contemporary satin. All paints are freshly made and produced on demand.
