Lily-Rose Depp reacts to dad Johnny Depp's controversial ‘comeback’
Lily-Rose Depp has said she is "super happy" for her dad, Johnny Depp, who this made what critics are calling a comeback.
For the past few years, Johnny has been embroiled in a high profile legal case with ex-wife Amber Heard. Following a UK hearing that found it to be 'substantially true' he had committed 12 assaults against Amber, he was dropped from a number of movies – including Pirates of the Caribbean and Fantastic Beasts – as well as brand deals. Throughout the trials, he denied all the allegations made against him and he later went on to win a defamation case in the US against Amber, setting the stage for his return to the spotlight.
At the Cannes Film Festival last week, Johnny received a seven minute standing ovation for his upcoming movie, Jeanne du Barry, in which he stars as King Louis XV. Given everything that's happened with Amber, some people on social media questioned why Johnny has so easily been welcomed back.
Now, Johnny's daughter has commented on the reaction. "I'm super happy for him. I'm super excited," Lily-Rose told Entertainment Tonight.
Previously speaking about her silence throughout her dad's legal battle with Amber, Lily-Rose said in a chat with Elle: "When it's something that's so private and so personal that all of a sudden becomes not so personal… I feel really entitled to my secret garden of thoughts."
"I also think that I'm not here to answer for anybody," she added, explaining she doesn't want to be judged by the men in her life.
