Lily Collins Saw a Podiatrist Every Week While Filming ‘Emily in Paris’—Here’s Why

As they say, beauty is pain, and Lily Collins has proof. During a visit to The Tonight Show, she shared that one aspect of filming Emily in Paris was a literal pain.

In the segment, host Jimmy Fallon asked Collins, 33, what she thinks about the online petitions to have her character travel to different cities around the world, instead of just Paris. She was all for the international travel, with one caveat: wearing flats.

“I would go all over the world with it if I could,” she says in the clip. “But the one thing is, like, I just want to go to streets where you can wear flats, because wearing heels, I mean, you wouldn't think how painful that can be in Paris.”

Apparently, it was so painful that the Windfall star called on an expert every week for relief. “I actually literally went to a podiatrist every week to fix my feet because I was wearing heels all the time,” she explains.

OK, so the cobblestone streets of Paris might be oh-so-romantic if you’re wearing flat shoes and not hobbling around like the gargoyles of Notre Dame. But since Emily wouldn’t be caught dead in a pair of sneakers, Collins sought a different solution: insoles. “I had to have, like, insoles made for every pair of shoes,” she says.

We have a hunch that native Parisians could make walkable heels (or hell, Crocs) look très chic, but we digress.
