Always an open book, singer Lily Allen is known for sharing the best posts on Instagram (recently fans were celebrating a photo she uploaded showing a flash of grey hair – which we're very much here for). Now, she's shared a series of snaps showing her a year on from quitting booze and it's clear to see that she's looking absolutely radiant.

The first three of four images show Lily happily lounging around in a bikini in Capri, Italy (where she's currently taking a solo break), while the fourth is a slightly less flattering image of her after a night out. Captioning her post, Lily wrote: "1 year completely sober! So grateful for my health and happiness."

It's so great to see her looking well and content, especially as she's been so candid about her problematic relationship with drugs and alcohol in the past (especially in her autobiography, My Thoughts Exactly). She also previously admitted in an interview with GQ (back in 2018) that at her worst, she drank a bottle of Grey Goose vodka a day while on tour and that she couldn't tell the difference between it and a glass of water.

"I'd never really been a drinker before. I'd always been a drug taker, and the drinking was an accessory to doing drugs. I realised, 'Oh, fuck, I haven’t taken any drugs for ages, but I’m drinking a lot'. I was drinking a bottle of Grey Goose a day. It was really bad."

She also shared that alcohol had become a way of self-medicating, when other aspects of her life weren't going to plan, such as her marriage to Sam Cooper (the father of her two super cute daughters, Marnie and Ethel).

"[After attending 90 dependency meetings in 90 days] I fell off that wagon, but [it made me discover] that I've always been a big self-medicator. Now knowing that, if I'm not feeling 100, I just stay away from drugs and alcohol, basically."

Now, fast forward to 2020, Lily is twelve months sober and happily engaged to actor David Harbour – who has also previously discussed his experience with mental health and addiction.
