No matter the season, no matter the occasion, American model Lily Aldridge knows how to style an outfit. Which is to say, we absolutely know we can trust her when it comes to outfit inspiration and styling tips.
Her latest look is no exception to the general rule, either. The 37-year-old hit the red carpet at the WSJ Magazine 2023 Innovator Awards ceremony in her best monochromatic high-fashion, teaching a lesson in moody, elevated dressing for the season. She paired a simple black sheath dress with sheer detailing at the hem with strappy pointed high heels. On top, she layered a straight black overcoat with black beaded detailing throughout the bodice. All of the dark, elegant pieces were courtesy of luxury designer Jason Wu, who accompanied Aldridge to the event.
“Inspiring night celebrating @wsjmag #wsjinnovators 🖤 Thank you for a Fab Date night out @JasonWu,” she captioned the series of photos, in which she posed both with the fabulous high-end designer and solo on the red carpet and at the event.
With a slicked back up-do, very minimal, yet sophisticated glam and a simple black-and-gold pendant necklace, the California native chicly completed her look. Her styling proved that simplistic pieces don’t have to be boring at all. In fact, they can make for a distinctly elegant and glamorous look when paired together correctly.
Though you may not have a red carpet appearance to make soon, a fancy—or not so fancy—dinner out is occasion enough to replicate Aldridge’s style. Take a look at her ensemble and elevate your own simple monochromatic pieces accordingly.
