Lidl has launched a brand new luxury Easter egg, which consists of three eggs inside one another.

The Ultimate Fruit and Nut Easter Egg is made up of three chocolate egg shells themed to different desserts, which slot within each other – it's like a Russian doll you can eat!

The milk chocolate outer layer is inspired by tiramisu, coated in chopped roasted hazelnuts. Inside this shell is a dark chocolate, black forest gateau egg with bites of sour cherries.

The third and final egg is in the very centre and is made from white chocolate, inspired by panna cotta. This layer is stuffed with dried raspberries and pistachio nuts for added crunch and flavour.

The indulgent pick from Lidl is available in store now for £9.99. This egg is part of the retailer’s premium Easter egg range, which also features chocolate orange and honeycomb dark chocolate varieties, which start from £5.99.

While these richer choices are aimed at adults, the brand has also recently launched a selection of Easter treats for children, including a trio of zoo animal themed Easter eggs for kids.

With Easter hot on the horizon, many brands have been stepping up their own offerings, such as M&S’s Percy Pig egg hunt set and Cadbury’s double chocolate cream egg.
