Lidl launches brand new gin flavour
Lidl is known for its wide range of gin flavours, from its fruity gin liqueurs to popular pink gin. So we were excited when we spotted a brand new gin on its shelves, and it sounds like the perfect tipple for summer.
Lidl's new Pink Grapefruit & Elderflower gin liqueur (£11.99) is available in stores now and it's really tasty.
To make the liqueur, Lidl's award-winning Hortus London Dry Gin is used, infused with grapefruit and elderflower flavour to give "a fresh, sweet finish."
On the nose the gin is lovely and perfumed, with notes of elderflower while the gin liqueur itself is very sweet with citrus flavours pairing well with the warmth of the gin.
So how to serve?
Lidl has recommended four cocktails:
Summer Blush Spritz
50ml gin
150ml sparkling wine or Prosecco
Garnish with ice and a sprig of thyme
Citrus flower margarita
45ml tequyila
45ml gin
22ml freshly squeezed lime juice
Shake over ice and strain into a chilled glass
Pink negroni
20ml gin
20ml vermouth bianco
20ml bitter Italian aperitif
Stir in a rocks glass with plenty of cubed ice
Grapefruit and elderflower collins
50ml dry gin
25ml grapefruit and elderflower gin
20ml fresh lemon juice
Top with soda or lemonade for added sweetness
Lidl has a track record for producing award-winning gins. Just recently the budget supermarket's Pomegranate & Rose gin liqueur won our flavoured gin liqueur taste test, while its Rhubarb & Ginger flavour was the runner-up.
