Liam Payne says he's "really happy" as singer confirms engagement to Maya Henry
Liam Payne and model Maya Henry confirmed their romance last August.
The singer proposed in lockdown with a whopper of a ring, and has now confirmed the happy news in a new interview.
Liam Payne is officially back off the market after confirming his engagement to model Maya Henry. The singer made an appearance on Good Morning America on Thursday where he was congratulated on the news, and ~as to be expected~he sounded absolutely chuffed.
"Thank you, we’re just really happy," the 1D star replied. "The last week I’ve had a birthday, my son has gone to school for the first time today, so it feels like a lot of firsts for me actually, which is great!"
The happy couple headed out in London last week and sparked engagement rumours after Maya was pictured wearing a stunning ring, said to be worth a huge £3million (via Mail Online). The singer, 27, is believed to have popped the question during lockdown.
The pair were first linked in late 2018 following Liam's split from Cheryl, but are thought to have briefly broken up before getting back together in summer 2019. They made their official debut as a couple in August 2019.
The following month Liam thanked Maya for bringing his happiness back and "for always keeping the biggest smile on my face through all the stress and making me realise how perfect my life really is."
Opening up about their relationship in December, Liam also praised the LA-based model for being so chilled. "I’m really happy right now and things are good," the singer shared. "Now that I’ve found someone who’s my best friend as well as my partner, it’s changed things for me.
"She’s just so relaxed about everything. Someone who’s got your back with everything. I don’t think I’ve experienced that before in someone, so it’s quite a wonder to watch."
The pair were hit by split reports just two months later, but sources close to the singer played down the rumours. "Maya and Liam are definitely still a couple and are very happy together. Both have been taking time off social media lately and enjoying each other’s company away from the spotlight," an insider said at the time, according to the Mail.
