Levi's Black Friday 2020 sale is fast-approaching and, if you hadn't already guessed, we're pretty excited about it here at Cosmo. Why? Because we're anticipating the discounts will be kind of brilliant. Last year, the brand knocked 30% off everything in a blanket promotional code (applied once you hit checkout). Here's hoping their 2020 sale, set to start on 27th November, is just as promising!

In the meantime, Levi's have also launched a pre-Black Friday sale, named Indigo Friday, which offers up to 50% off selected styles. So if you're contemplating treating yourself to some new denim, check to see if your wish list items have been reduced early, as we know Levi's has a tendency to sell-out, fast.

The true kween of denim, Levi's has been uniforming men, women and movie stars ever since the '50s – and we think everyone should own a pair of its iconic jeans. The best bit about buying a pair of Levi jeans? You're investing for the future: these babies only get better with age. So when those 501s are faded AF, with rips in the knees, you can rest assured you'll look even cooler. And they're obvs even better value for money on Black Friday.

Anyway, we digress, here are the best bits of Levi's Black Friday 2019 sale:

What should I look out for in Levi's Black Friday 2019 sale?

  • Denim, duh. No, but seriously, invest in these iconic jeans while they are cheaper. High up on our wish lists are the 501s that everyone's been wearing since day dot, and the super-cool Ribcage style that fulfil all of our high-waist dreams and will go on to banish builder's bums 4eva.

  • Jersey basics – there are some great printed sweatshirts with collegiate vibes which will stand the test of time, as well cute cropped T-shirts.

  • Outerwear – you know, all the denim truckers, lumberjack overshirts and sherpa jackets.

  • Plus-size jeans that are designed to fit oh-so-well. Gurls with curves, don't look anywhere else!

What even is Black Friday?

Black Friday kickstarted in '30s America when the department store Macy's cashed in on the annual Thanksgiving Day parade (if you love Gossip Girl, you'll remember Dan and Serena watching it on TV in season six).

The term 'Black Friday' wasn't officially coined until years later, with the event becoming more of a thang during the big capitalist years of the '80s (ya know, Working Girl, Wall Street bankers and, um, all the independent ladies reading Cosmopolitan). FYI, it's always been manic AF, that's why we prefer to shop online from the smug comfort of our homes.

Amazon was the first retailer to bring Black Friday over to the UK, offering customers online discounts and deals on the same day as the sales in the US. Supermarket Asda was next, creating some serious fuss (and physical fights, for real) with huge discounts on TVs and tech in store.

Soon the rest of the UK caught on to the potential pre-Christmas profit and the rest is history.

When is Black Friday 2019?

Black Friday always falls on the fourth weekend of November which, this year, is 29th November. From our experience, clothes shopping is a little easier than tech or beauty, because there's less of a panic.

Does Levi's take part in Black Friday?

The brand has taken part, giving customers 30% off everything, for two years running now.

What was on sale last year?

L.I.T.E.R.A.L.L.Y everything. The brand dropped a promotional code a few days before Black Friday 2019, giving customers 30% off anything full-price (the discount was applied once you hit 'checkout').
