Let’s Make-Up: the beauty products to know about this week

The entirety of the first twelve days of the year have, for me, been devoted to Married at First Sight Australia, Bridgerton, and The Serpent.

Haven’t we all been binging TV with ravenous fury in lieu of *anything* more interesting to do? (Apart from our government-sanctioned walks, that is).

The most delicious part of wasting time, sweet time, while gorging the fantastic onslaught of TV being afforded to all of us at the moment, is the beauty we can see to while doing it.

Hear me out. We’ve all got those friends who say obnoxious things along the lines of ‘make your money work hard, so you don’t have to!’, and while I don’t purport to know anything about stocks, shares or investments, I feel the same way about skin. Make your skin work hard at imparting a glow, so you don’t have to.

Next time (let’s be real, probably tonight) you’re about to get horizontal on the sofa to binge-watch your go-to series, lather on a moisturising mask to marinate your face with goodness, or slap an intensive hair treatment on your strands ends for optimal sheen.

Ah, beauty. There’s nothing quite like it. In case you’re after some newness (aren’t we all?), these are the launches to know this week.

Summer Fridays Cloud Dew Oil-Free Gel Cream Moisturiser

Its name might be something of a tongue twister, but this light-as-a-feather gel moisturiser is heaven in a tub. Boasting a glow-giving mix of three different strains of uber-hydrating hyaluronic acid, the lightweight gel has managed to banish all evidence of my flaky face (thank you, Beast from the East 2).

While I’ve been eschewing make-up as of late to try and give my skin a chance to eradicate its sporadic outbursts of ‘maskne’, I wore a layer of the Cloud Dew moisturiser under a bit of Charlotte Tilbury’s new Airbush Flawless Filter at the weekend for a Zoom quiz (ah, lockdown), and my skin looked almost iridescent.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

Beauty doyenne Charlotte Tilbury has done it again; her Flawless Filter is, quite literally, a filter in a bottle. Not quite a foundation, nor a highlighter, the hybrid product hits the sweet spot between imparting a glow and proving an oh-so light sheen of coverage to the skin, and now Tilbury has debuted five new shades so that everybody can get a taste of it.

As somebody who doesn’t love wearing too much make-up, it has rapidly become one of my go-to desert island products, and I don’t doubt that it would become of yours too. Go forth and glow!

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial

We’re drunk in love with clean beauty behemoth Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial, which is finally available to buy in the UK. Now is finally our time to experience the hard-working re-surfacing treatment for ourselves, which boasts an impressive line-up comprising of 25 per cent AHA and two per cent BHA.

Let it slough away dead skin cells and reveal one helluva glow while you put your feet up. What could be better?

FORGO Hand Wash Starter Kit

Byredo, but make it sustainable; FORGO is the Swedish brand to know. Not only is its entirely recyclable packaging perfect fodder for the 'gram, but its hand washes are also the future of refills. All you have to do is pour the powder into the jar, add 30ml of hot water and shake.

Expect body wash and skincare from them next.

HIGHR Lipstick in Chateau

We may not have anyone to show it off to, but I’m still endorsing lipstick-wearing while stationed in my flat - even if just to give me a sense of normalcy. HIGHR’s lipsticks are some of the best, creamiest, and most pigmented I’ve ever tried, but its shade Chateau is a seriously delicious nude.

The fact that they’re made exclusively by solar power in California and free of artificial nasties is simply a bonus. Pucker up!
