A PUB is set to re-open imminently after a major revamp costing bosses hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Mariners Court, on Leigh Broadway, is being boosted with new seating areas, a state-of-theart granite bar, and a fresh exterior.

Bosses have revealed the pub will re-open next Saturday with a weekend packed with live music and a DJ set, with more information set to be released in coming days.

Pub manager Chris Huggett said: “It’s all going really well and we are set open next weekend, but will announce more very soon.

“I am really pleased with it all so far and the team has done a really good job.

“Customers keep approaching us and asking when it’s opening, and stopping in the street to talk to builders about the works too.

“They can’t wait to get in, see it reopened, and come back to the pub. It will make a big difference to the pub and the whole area too.

“The new bar has been put together and the top is being made.

Furniture is en route, the front of the pub has been painted green and a new sign is going up.

We’ve also got new lighting outside so it’ll look pretty cool.”

Mr Huggett said the pub is planning DJ nights for early February and more information will be released about events soon.

He previously put the cost as hundreds of thousands of pounds, and described it as a “significant investment.”

The pub revamp has also seen the floors sanded down, and a raised seating area removed for more seating and tables.

Mr Huggett added: “We are slightly behind by a few days but it’s going so well and I am very pleased with how it’s going and looks so far.

“New tiles and carpet will be laid soon in the pub and we will have lots of flowers outside the front of the pub too.”

Initially, the pub announced it was undergoing the “much-needed” refurbishment, with very little change in the pub in the last two decades.
