Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock's theatrical debut is finally here. Boxing Day was released in cinemas earlier this month after a very glitzy premiere that we all couldn't stop talking about. And while it seems to us that Leigh-Anne was always destined for the big screen her co-star Aml Ameen, also the film's writer and director, recently revealed that he wasn't actually sure about casting the Little Mix singer until he saw her giving one particular interview.

In case you've not yet seen it, the film follows British author Melvin (Aml Ameen) returning home to London from the US for Christmas, and introducing his fiancée Lisa (Aja Naomi King) to his family. The couple's relationship is put to the test as Lisa learns more about Melvin's past, including his ex, global superstar Georgia (Leigh-Anne Pinnock).

Obviously Leigh-Anne totally kills the role, but in a recent interview Ameen revealed that he wasn't actually sure about casting the star and hadn't heard of Little Mix before.

"I didn’t really know who Little Mix were and from that first audition my producers were interested, but I was on the fence about it," Ameen told The Mirror.

"But eventually what I did is I watched an interview with her online and I was really taken by her personality, her humanity and her commitment to the truth within herself - she’s very raw and open."

He continued, "So, I was like: 'If we can actually get her to be as she is in real life, we might be able to get a great performance', and then she and I made a pact to really go at it and work ridiculously hard, and all credit to her, she did just that and gives a really strong performance in this film."

Well, we're definitely very thankful he changed his mind. We're very into this new stage of Leigh-Anne's career!
