Lauren Goodger has thanked fans for their messages of support following the death of her newborn daughter.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star took to Instagram on Saturday to announce that her baby girl Lorena had passed away two days after her birth.

Lauren and her partner Charles Drury were inundated with messages and cards in light of the tragic news, and on Sunday, a representative issued a statement to OK! magazine.

"Lauren and Charles would like to thank everyone for their amazing support at this hard time. The messages have been so lovely and even though it takes no pain away it really has helped to see how much support there is for them," they said.

"They are completely overwhelmed and touched by the response."

In her original post, Lauren shared that she was "broken" in the wake of Lorena's passing and confused by what had happened as she did not experience any pregnancy or labour complications.

Accordingly, the 35-year-old asked photographers to respect her privacy during their difficult time.

"Please can I ask photographers to respect our privacy right now as we have a lot of grieving to do and funeral organising that I just need this time & with my baby girl Larose," she continued. "She is my rock that's getting me through this or I wouldn't survive... I will never ever get over this but I will learn how to live everyday with Lorena in my heart she will be with me always and I will be with her again one day."

Lauren and Charles welcomed daughter Larose in July 2021.
