SEVERAL Swindon pubs and restaurants have just received top marks in their latest food hygiene inspections.

Swindon Borough Council inspectors visited five businesses near the end of last year and have now published their findings.

Kenzo 72 in Godwin Court, Old Town, was inspected on December 29 and given five out of five.

Hygienic food handling and management of food safety were very good, while the cleanliness of the facilities and building was considered to be good.

The White Hart pub on Wroughton’s High Street received the same rating for the same reasons after inspectors stopped by on December 19.

Two more pubs - The Hop Inn on Devizes Road and The Fox and Hounds on Markham Road in Wroughton – were also visited on that day and later received the highest possible rating after receiving very good results in all three categories.

Customers of the Chicken and Pizza Valley takeaway on Faringdon Road should be reassured by the Very Good five-out-of-five rating awarded following an inspection on November 27.

These latest figures mean that of Swindon's 252 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 217 (86 per cent) have ratings of five and just two have zero ratings.
