Lady Gaga makes an entrance at the inauguration
Update: Lady Gaga has made her entrance.
The singer, who performed the national anthem at today's ceremony, arrived at the presidential inauguration wearing a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture look designed by Daniel Roseberry. The ensemble comprised of a navy, cashmere fitted jacket and skirt in washed red silk faille with a gilded dove of peace brooch.
"As an American living in Paris, this ensemble is a love letter to the country I miss so dearly and to a performer whose artistry I have so long admired," Roseberry, the maison's creative director, said of Gaga's look in a statement.
Gaga's inaugural ensemble comes after she made a dramatic entrance in Washington, D.C., yesterday, wearing a sweeping white cape dress by Givenchy. She went monochrome in a matching turtleneck and face mask, and styled her platinum-blonde hair in a braided updo. Sharing a photo from the Capitol, Gaga expressed her wishes for hope and unity.
In the photo shared with fans, Gaga can be seen posing inside the Capitol building wearing an all-white custom cape dress courtesy of Givenchy by Matthew Williams, which she paired with a matching face mask. She styled her platinum hair in a braided updo.
In her caption, the star alluded to the traumatic riots that took place at Capitol Hill last week as she wished for love and non-violence.
'I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear,' wrote Gaga. 'A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol 🇺🇸'
Gaga was also photographed outside of the Capitol building, as she greeted National Guard soldiers.
Gaga isn't the only superstar set to take to the Inauguration Day stage. Fellow musicians Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake and Demi Lovato are all also scheduled performers for the day's celebrations.
Gaga was a vocal supporter for the Biden-Harris ticket leading up to last November's presidential election. Along with encouraging her fans and followers to get out the vote with a series of encouraging social media posts, she also performed at a fundraising benefit in Philadelphia for the now President-Elect.
