Lady Gaga has been announced as the new face of Valentino’s perfume line, the Standard can reveal.

In a statement issued today, the Italian fashion house called the pop star an inspiration to millions of people around the world, as the only artist in history to receive an Oscar, Grammy, BAFTA and Golden Globe in the same year for her work in the 2018 hit film A Star Is Born.

With previous brand ambassadors including model of the moment Adut Akech and Anwar Hadid, the Stupid Love singer has been chosen to front Valentino’s Voce Viva fragrance, which will be released in September with a campaign said to celebrate individuality and inspire others to live their dreams.

The brand’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli said; “She is the icon of a generation. Her message of freedom, passion for art, self-consciousness and equality is the same our Valentino community stands for.”

Earlier this week, Lady Gaga made headlines after posting a picture on Instagram wearing a personalised studded face mask scrawled with Chromatica, the name of her sixth album released in May, to stress the importance of wearing a face covering as countries around the world begin to emerge from lockdown amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The caption read: “Be yourself, but wear a mask! I believe in being kind to yourself, the community and the planet”. She added, “I challenge my awesome friends to show off their mask” before tagging Oprah Winfrey, Ariana Grande and Barack and Michelle Obama.
