If you'd like a new addition to your spring or summer wardrobe, look no further than this lovely lacy top – made using our free knitting pattern.
The lattice design is perfect to throw on during cooler summer evenings, or pair with white jeans during the day.
This knitting pattern is best for intermediate knitters, who have learned how to knit and would like to use their skills to create beautiful pieces for their wardrobe. The pattern uses knit and purl stitches and straight knitting needles, meaning there aren't too many new skills to master.

What you need
Debbie Bliss Dulcie (47% Cotton 47% Acrylic 6% Nylon) in shade Duck egg (11). 10 (11:12:13:15) x 50g balls
Pair each of 6.5mm and 7mm straight knitting needles
4 stitch holders
Tension
14 sts and 18 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch/lace pattern using 7mm needles.

Lacy top free knitting pattern
Row 1 (RS): K1, *k5, yo, ssk, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.
Row 3: K1, *k4, [yo, ssk] twice; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 5: K1, *k5, yo, ssk, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 7: K1, *k1, yo, ssk, k5; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 9: K1, * [yo, ssk] twice, k4; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 11: K1, *k1, yo, ssk, k5; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 12: Purl.
These 12 rows set Diamond lace pattern.
BACK
Using 6.5mm needles, cast on 87 (95:103:111:121) sts.
Rib row 1 (RS): K1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end.
Rib row 2: P1, *k1, p1; rep from * to end.
These 2 rows set rib.
Cont in rib until work measures 6cm from cast on edge, ending after a RS row.
Dec row (WS): P4 (2:6:4:3), p2tog, [p4, p2tog] 13 (15:15:17:19) times, p3 (1:5:3:2). 73 (79:87:93:101) sts.
Change to 7mm needles, cont in stocking stitch (throughout), beginning with a K row, until work measures 35cm from cast on edge, ending after a WS row.
Shape raglan
Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 67 (73:81:87:95) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, ssk, k to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2.
Row 2: P2, p2tog, p to last 4 sts, p2tog tbl, p2. 63 (69:77:83:91) sts.
Rep last 2 rows 2 (2:3:4:5) times more. 55 (61:65:67:71) sts. **

Rep last 2 rows twice more. 5 sts.
Next row: P5.
Next row: K1, sl1, k2tog, psso, k1. 3 sts.

Shape right front neck
Working on the rem 27 (29:31:33:35) sts, slip centre 15 (17:19:21:23) sts onto a holder, K to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. 11 sts.
Next row (WS): P to last 4 sts, p2tog tbl, p2. 10 sts.
Next row: K to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. 9 sts.
Rep last 2 rows twice more. 5 sts.
Next row: P5.
Next row: K1, sl1, k2tog, psso, k1. 3 sts.
Next row: P3.
Next row: K2tog, k1. 2 sts.

SLEEVES
Using 6.5mm needles, cast on 39 (45:45:51:51) sts.
Work in rib as set on Back until sleeve measures 6cm from cast on edge, ending after a RS row.
Inc row (WS): K0 (1:1:2:2), [k2, m1] 19 (21:21:23:23] times, k1 (2:2:3:3). 58 (66:66:74:74) sts.
Change to 7mm needles and work in Diamond Iace pattern (throughout), beginning with Row 1 for Right sleeve and Row 7 for Left sleeve.
Cont straight until sleeve measures 26cm from cast on edge, ending after a WS row.
Shape raglan
Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 52 (60:60:68:68) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K2, ssk, patt to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2.
Row 2: P2, p2tog, patt to last 4 sts, p2tog tbl, p2. 48 (56:56:64:64) sts.
Rep last 2 rows 3 (5:3:6:4) times more. 36 (36:44:40:48) sts.
Row 1: K2, ssk, patt to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2.34 (34:42:38:46) sts.
Row 2: P3, patt to last 3 sts, p3.
Rep last 2 rows 12 (12:16:14:18) times more. 10 sts.
Slip rem sts onto holder for sleeve top.
NECKBAND
Join raglan seams, leaving Left back raglan seam open.
With RS facing, using 6.5mm needles, knit across 10 sts left on holder for left sleeve, pick up and knit 9 sts evenly down front neck shaping, knit across 15 (17:19:21:23) sts left on holder for front neck, pick up and knit 10 sts evenly up right front shaping, knit across 10 sts left on holder for right sleeve, knit across 27 (29:31:33:35) sts left on holder for back neck. 81 (85:89:93:97) sts.
Cont in rib as set on Back (throughout), beginning with WS row, until neckband measures 7cm.
Change to 7mm needles, cont in rib until neckband measures 15cm, ending after a WS row.
Cast off loosely in rib.
MAKING UP
Join rem raglan and neckband seam, reversing seam half way up neckband for fold back. Join side and sleeve seams. Weave in ends. Pin your garment out to the size stated in the pattern, cover with a damp cloth and leave to dry.
