If there’s anything that TikTok has taught me, it’s that I’ve been doing my makeup wrong for errrr *checks notes*… about the last 15 years, so that’s cool. But also, it’s taught me loads of super smart tips and tricks and I sometimes wonder how I managed without it. Thank god I succumbed to downloading it during lockdown, ey?

So far, I’m versed on how to turn an eyeshadow into coloured eyeliner (a hack that got over 16 million views and counting…), how to pick the right highlighter for you (no, seriously, you need to see this one) and how to contour a round face shape (it’s all about the backwards ‘Y’ application). But the biggest game changer for me? How to apply my blusher.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve swept layer upon layer of blusher onto the apples of my cheeks. Of course, there’s actually nothing wrong with doing it this way (yes, I was being dramatic earlier), but during a scrolling session, I came across a technique that suited my face shape way more.

This method involves concentrating your blusher on your temples and the back points of your cheeks for a more “lifted look”, as TikTok user Isaac Halvorsen explains in that mind-blowing video. In fact, it’s a technique that even Adele used when she made her return to Instagram last year.

Now, Kylie Jenner is one of the latest celebs to try the old-school blusher hack and she looks incredible. In a series of Instagram posts promoting her new Kylie Cosmetics Glow Balm, the youngest Jenner sister shows just where to apply it, with a rosy pink shade blended onto her temples and the very back point of her cheeks.

In another picture, she using a brighter shade of pink for a 60s-inspired pop of colour:

So pretty, right?

OK, don’t mind me, just going to rummage through all my blushers in search of the brightest colour I own…
