Kylie Jenner has been accused of Blackfishing after she posted a video to Instagram of her listening to music in the car. The post, in which Kylie shows off her outfit and baby bump, prompted some social media users to call out her appearance and her skin tone seeming darker than her natural colour.

For those unfamiliar with the term 'Blackfishing' it's a term which was coined to describe those who appear to be masquerading as Black or mixed race, and even profiting from that adopted guise, when they are in fact white.

People took to social media to raise concerns about Kylie's Blackfishing, with one user joking that she looks like she's wearing the Fenty makeup foundation shade 420, a hue made for Black skin.

Others noted the relative lack of outrage, referencing the fact that just weeks ago, Jesy Nelson was heavily criticised for her Blackfishing.

This isn't the first time Kylie has been accused of Blackfishing. Last year, the below post was criticised for the same reason, with followers claiming Kylie was clearly copying Beyoncé's look.

This comes after Jesy Nelson was recently called out by many people for Blackfishing - something she's publicly addressed.

Speaking not on the criticisms levelled at her new video, but that have been floating around on social media for some time, Jesy said during an interview with Vulture that she had never deleted comments under her photos that accused her of Blackfishing. This was later confirmed to the publication by a follow-up email, in which Jesy said her management had deleted them to protect her mental health.

When asked if she understood the allegations, Jesy also appeared to slightly side-step the question saying, "The whole time I was in Little Mix I never got any of that. And then I came out of [the band] and people all of a sudden were saying it. I wasn’t on social media around that time, so I let my team [deal with it], because that was when I’d just left. But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That’s all I know; it’s what I grew up on. I’m very aware that I’m a white British woman; I’ve never said that I wasn’t."

In July, Iggy Azalea was also accused of Blackfishing in a music video, something she hit back at, saying it was “ridiculous and baseless."

"I’m wearing a shade 6 in Armani foundation, it’s the same shade I’ve worn for the last 3 years. It’s the same shade in every music video since Sally Walker. Suddenly I wear a black wig in a club scene & its an issue,” she said. "I’m sick of ppl trying to twist my words or make shit a problem when all I’ve done is try a hair colour."

Kylie hasn't responded to the Blackfishing claims. Cosmopolitan UK has contacted her team for comment.
