Parisian label Nour Hammour is a brand that has perfected 'forever' style. Designed in the French capital, the label boasts a leather piece for quite literally any occasion. From rock chick studded jackets to dramatic trench coats, classic blazers to quilted puffa coats, the brand has something for you, whatever your style.
It's no wonder that it has gained an impressive celebrity fanbase, from fashion’s most stylish models such as Hailey Bieber, the Hadid sisters and Kaia Gerber to A-listers Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Olivia Palermo and Kourtney Kardashian, who have also been seen sporting its designs.
What started out as simply customising pieces for friends between classes at the Italian fashion school Istituto Marangoni, where designers Erin Webb and Nour Hammour first met, it quickly grew into the successful brand it is today. We spoke to Webb and Hammour to find out why you need this brand on your fashion radar.
How did Nour Hammour come about?
“We first started as a label that exclusively made custom leather biker jackets. Since we started out as a made-to-order brand, we were fortunate to interact directly with our customers, who came from all over the world to create their leather jackets in our showroom. Not long after we launched, we were worn by Kendall Jenner and that kind of was the first of us becoming known as the model-off-duty brand.”
What is it about the brand that makes it such a favourite among celebrities?
“When you put on a leather jacket, it totally transforms you. It makes you feel empowered, a bit masculine and a little sexy. We do that, but always with a twist to make women stand out from the crowd.”
Who is the Nour Hammour woman?
“An independent woman. A woman who is perfectly comfortable with who she really is and doesn’t take herself so seriously.”
What makes your pieces so cult-worthy?
“The women we work with seek out the most special pieces for their wardrobe. We become so close to our clients; they are almost like family. Even as we’re designing a piece, we’ll send them a photo to tell them, 'You are going to love this!' It’s such a modern and fun way to design and sell.”
What do you feel has been the secret to your success?
“Time. Just like in anything in life, the longer you do something the better at it that you become. We listen to what our clients want and are looking for in fit and design – and adapt this knowledge into all our collections.”
What role did social media play in the brand's journey?
“With our Instagram, we are able to connect with clients in real time all over the world: answer questions, help them find the perfect silhouette, and do special requests for our clients. Our jacket sales are all about relationships.
“It’s a bit like buying a beautiful piece of jewellery – it is an investment piece that is extremely personal. Not only are we nurturing a lifelong relationship with our client – but they are helping us understand what they want – with an immediacy that is unprecedented.”
A leather jacket is one of your signature pieces and is a wardrobe staple. What is the best way, in your opinion, to style a leather jacket?
Nour: “My style is more on the casual side. I love our Amura blazer with jeans and a pair of chunky Lugg boots.”
Erin: “I love our Gia embellished leather trench coat tied super tight at the waist, worn with a thigh-high Cuissarde boot and turtleneck. Even if it’s covered in sparkling studs, I’ll wear it during the day.”
