Each week, we will be looking into a new and exciting brand that is taking the fashion world by storm. For #TheBrand’s first outing, we are turning to Dutch accessories label, Wandler.

Specialising in luxury leather geometric-shaped bags that come in an array of vibrant colours – from pale pinks to khaki greens, lemon yellows to striking navy – the large leather totes, trapeze-shaped cross-body bags and statement belt bags have already taken Instagram by storm. Wandler could well be on its way to being the next 'It' handbag brand.

Here’s everything you need to know about the luxury leather accessories label.

Origins

Amsterdam-based Elza Wandler set up the brand last year after realising that she was ready to start her own line.

“I always knew I wanted to do something for myself, create my own world,” she tells us. “And – after gaining plenty of experience in understanding the beginning to end of product design – I felt that I was ready to design under my own name. It’s all about timing and the right things blending together at the same time.”

Wandler says that accessories have always been her passion because they are “like little sculptures” and the “form is quite free to explore”.

Although Wandler is Amsterdam-based, the bags are handmade in Italy and the brand is now teamed up with a number of retail partners worldwide, including Matches Fashion, Browns, Net-a-Porter and Boutique 1 in the UK.

Why is everyone talking about it?

The designs are a great meeting point between minimalism and femininity, making them very versatile additions to any wardrobe, so its not all that surprising that they have taken off.

“With each bag, I try to challenge myself and play with finding an equal balance between feminine and clean androgynous,” Wandler says. “Directional shapes and a dynamic use of colours lead through my collections. I think a lot of women feel drawn to this aesthetic.”

Who has worn it?

A number of street style stars flocked to the bags during Copenhagen Fashion Week, which is not altogether that surprising given the bags’ minimalist and sleek style. In addition to this, stars including Linda Tol and stylist Georgia Tal have also been showing them off on Instagram.

The next person on Wandler’s hit list who she would love to see carrying one of her designs? “Zoe Kravitz,” she says.

With fashion month on the horizon, we can only predict that Wandler's presence on Instagram and the street-style set will go from strength to strength.
