Kirsty Young, Clive Myrie and AJ Odudu to star in Queen's Jubilee BBC coverage

A star-studded line-up of presenters has been announced for the BBC's coverage of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, lead by Kirsty Young.

Some of the broadcaster's biggest names will host programmes celebrating the Queen's 70-year reign, welcoming former Desert Island Discs presenter Young back to the BBC for the first time since she left the Radio 4 show in 2018.

Young will lead coverage of the Platinum Party At The Palace for BBC One alongside Capital FM host Roman Kemp, a night of musical tributes that will also see link ups with Jermaine Jenas at Buckingham Palace, Gethin Jones in Wales, Carol Kirkwood in Scotland, and Holly Hamilton in Northern Ireland.

Young said: "I’m delighted to be back on the BBC for such an historic, unique, and happy event. It’s going to be quite a weekend and our coverage will bring viewers everywhere a front row seat at the celebrations. I can’t wait!"

Other presenters bringing the Jubilee celebrations to viewers will include Huw Edwards, Clare Balding, AJ Odudu and Anita Rani.

Journalist and Mastermind host Clive Myrie, who has recently reported on Russia's invasion of Ukraine from Kyiv, will present documentary The Crown Jewels, while former Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry hosts The Queens Jubilee Pudding: 70 Years in the Baking.

Myrie said: "It's been a really powerful journey of discovery for me finding out more about the amazing crown jewels, their importance to the monarchy and their role in the complex history of our islands."

Coverage highlights will include Platinum Jubilee: Trooping the Colour presented by Edwards, Young and JJ Chalmers, Platinum Beacons: Lighting Up The Jubilee, and The Platinum Pageant with Young, Balding, Odudu, Rani, Sophie Morgan and Anton Du Beke.

Viewers can also look out for EastEnders, Bargain Hunt, The Repair Shop, Songs of Praise and Blue Peter Jubilee specials over the long Bank Holiday weekend.

The main programming will air between Thursday, 2 and Sunday, 5 June.
