Kim Kardashian's latest Skims advert has been pulled amid fans spotted what looked to be heavy editing around her waist in the original video, which went viral on TikTok. Skims has released a statement clarifying what happened, explaining the ad was actually done running and instead replacing it with a "glitch-free version."
The ad aired last week and quickly went viral on TikTok after an account uploaded a clip of it showing what looked like a major editing fail around Kim's waist. The video shows Kim lying on her side wearing a set of Skims beige underwear. To demonstrate the fit of the underwear Kim runs her hand along her waist, but, as spotted by users on TikTok, her finger seems to distort as it hits her waist, leading to the claim that her waist has been edited.
The video, which was uploaded by @alexkelly2014 and captioned "Who approved of this editing???", has prompted backlash from some fans who called out repeated uses of Photoshop and editing from the Kardashian-Jenner family.
"They just refuse to do anything natural huh," one person wrote. While another commented, "pLEASE her finger was slithering," and another said, "So sad they create these body issue problems and then complain."
Since the TikTok went viral Skims released a statement clarifying the issue, saying that the video with the glitch has been pulled and the correct video re-uploaded, adding that the glitch was an uploading issue.
"The Skims commercial that aired last week featuring the Fits Everybody collection did initially have an error as a result of the video losing its quality during the uploading process," a Skims spokesperson told Page Six.
"Immediately after it was noticed by the team, the video was pulled, and the glitch-free version was uploaded and ran for the remainder of the time on air. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused Kim and our customers."
Skims also issued Page Six with the glitch-free version of the video, saying that Kim had specifically requested that no part of her body be retouched. According to their source the upload process had caused the glitch.
