Kim Kardashian's fake lip piercing is now a trend, obviously

We all know Kim Kardashian is one influential woman, and no stranger to starting new trends. However, when she started sporting a fake lip ring at the start of the year, we weren’t quite sure that it was going to catch on.

However, Kim is nothing but persistent and the reality star has regularly worn her new fave accessory over the last few months. Forever 21 and Topshop are now both stocking similar rings, making it most definitely now ‘a thing’.

But you don’t have to splash your hard-earned cash on a faux lip piercing: Beauty fanatics on Instagram have put a creative spin on the trend, creating a similar look that won’t cost you a penny.

The trend was unintentionally started by Daisy W, who was playing about with lip swatches when she ended up creating a fake lip ring with her day-to-day lipstick.

Achieving the look is pretty simple: All you need to do is keep a small strip down the centre of the lip clear, creating the illusion of a piercing – pretty clever, eh?

Want an evening look? Use the same hue as your eyeshadow to create a colourful lip statement.

Or, if you still think you really wouldn’t be brave enough to rock the look on a normal day, you have to admit it would be perfect for a festival.

Adding a metallic lip strip with a few face gems is sure to give you one pretty impressive look.
