Kim Kardashian's friend and former assistant Stephanie Shepherd turned 32 at the weekend and was treated to a special – and wildly expensive – surprise from the reality star and entrepreneur.

Shepherd – the influencer known as Steph Shep – shared a video opening the present on her Instagram Stories.

'This is so crazy,' she said, getting emotional as she admitted she was thinking of buying a knock off.

'Don't cry, just wear it in good health,' said Kim, giving her BFF a hug.

The prices of these Hermès handbags would bring any receiver to tears.

A Kelly Mini like Shepherd's can fetch more than £25,000.

Hermes are the most exclusive, expensive bag brand around and seem to be a favourite of the Kardashians.

Kim's Hermès bag collection extends to custom pieces, even a Herbag that was painted by her daughter North West.

Kylie Jenner has shared pictures of her closet in the past featuring Birkin and Kelly handbags in multiple colours.

Her daughter Stormi Webster seems to have almost as big a bag collection as her mother as the two have been seen with near-identical designer handbags – surely there's a Hermès in Stormi's closet too.

These handbags are a huge status symbol, with the Birkin design costing anything from $40,000 to $500,000, so is that why the Kardashians have a habit of gifting them as presents?

Last year Kylie Jenner gave Cardi B a powder blue Hermès Birkin handbag to celebrate her 28th birthday in incredibly pricey style.
