Kim Cattrall says the way AJLT dealt with Samantha's absence is "odd"

Fans of the Sex and the City spin-off series, And Just Like That, which recently announced a second season is on the way, will know the door has been kept open for Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones – even after she made it pretty darn clear that she has little interest in reprising her role (or, err, working with Sarah Jessica Parker, again).

However, it sounds like the actor isn't a fan of the way the show's creators decided to keep her character alive, but off-screen, making a storyline about how Samantha had moved to London and fallen out with Carrie (played by SJP), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon).

Speaking about AJLT in a new interview with Variety, Kim said she found the decision 'odd'.

When asked if she'd seen any of the show, or more specifically the scene in which her absence is explained, Kim replied, "Oh yes. I heard this. Well, that feels different than the Samantha that I played."

"It's odd, isn't it? I don't know how to feel about it. It's so finite for me, so it doesn’t continue. This feels like an echo of the past."

She also spoke about how her choosing to opt out of reprising her famed role has actually been a positive in many ways, and in true Samantha Jones style, she said she loves that it has left people wanting more.

"It's rare in my business – people wanting more, especially at 65. That feels powerful, that I've left something behind that I'm so proud of. I loved her. I loved her so, so, so much. It's tough competition. The original show is in all of our imaginations. But for me, it feels clean."

So, sorry, just to clarify again... you're totally sure you won't be joining the AJLT cast next season, Kim?
