Over the years, Khloe Kardashian has faced unrelenting criticism on social media about her appearance. Not only has the reality star faced backlash for editing her photos, but also for sharing and deleting unedited snaps too. Understandably, growing up under the magnifying glass of the public eye has had an impact on Khloe's mental wellbeing. Now, she's opened up about how she's tuning out from what social media has to say, and changing the way she treats her body, for both her physical and emotional health.

Speaking to Health magazine for her November cover issue, the 37-year-old admitted she's always had issues when it comes to dieting. "I've actually always had a really unhealthy relationship with food," she revealed, "When I was younger and was sad, I would eat—I was an emotional eater. And then I hated the way I felt after that. I was almost punishing myself for binging or having a bag of chips."

Like a lot of women, Khloe fell victim to following fad diets in the hopes of losing weight quickly. "I had tried every diet under the sun," the Good American founder pointed out, "Remember when Beyoncé did that lemon juice and cayenne pepper thing? I was like, sign me up! That's why I yo-yoed my entire life—I was always chasing some fad."

The turning point for Khloe came when she realised she needed to make longer-lasting changes to her lifestyle if she wanted to see healthy results. "When I started working out, I decided to make some lifestyle changes," she added, "So I'd say, for example, this week I am just going to do one thing—I'm just going to cut out sugar. Then, maybe I'd try to do it for a month. After that, I'd try to incorporate another healthy change."

The reality star continued: "At first your body is, like, dying. But emotionally and mentally, the release that I got was worth it. I quickly realised how good I feel when I'm consistent with it."

As for how she maintains her newfound healthier relationship with food, exercise and her body, Khloe stresses the importance of ignoring what social media has to say. "I'm forever trying to drown out the noise that doesn't matter—especially in the world of Instagram," she explains, "It's such a gift, and it's a curse. There's been so many days that I'm like, I feel so badass and good. And then my demeanour will be shot down because someone posted a story about how they perceive me or how they think I look."

Khloe continued, "It's so strange because we know the truth about ourselves. So why let what someone says affect you?"

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Hear, hear!
