Khloé Kardashian criticised for making ‘vacation calories don’t count’ joke with children

Khloé Kardashian has prompted criticism for involving her one-year-old daughter in a joke about calorie counting.

On Monday, the reality TV star tweeted photographs of her child, True, with her niece, Chicago West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The two youngsters were pictured on holiday in the Bahamas eating crisps and drinking water.

Kardashian captioned images: “Chi: I heard my mama say ‘vacation calories don’t count’. True: Don’t tell me twice Chi”.

While the tweet has garnered more than 12,000 retweets and 150,000 likes, thousands of people have taken issue with the post and accused Kardashian of introducing the children to diet culture.

“Are you introducing diet culture to your infant child? Don’t do that!,” tweeted one person.

“Calories and children do not need to be in the same sentence even if it’s a joke,” another added.

Others described the joke as “weird” and “scary”.

The comments follow criticisms over a toy Bentley car that Kardashian bought for True.

In July, the 35-year-old uploaded a photograph on Instagram of the one-year-old playing in the mini vehicle alongside the caption “I have so much fun with her”.

The short video prompted people to chastise Kardashian for her “excessive spending”, with one person writing: “I really loved your family’s story and now just can’t bare to watch as you spend all this money on worthless materialism. It’s so sad [sic].”

Kardashian responded to the critic: “Ummm you know this is not a real Bentley? It’s a toy, no reason to get sad over a baby in a toy car.

“Either way I’m sorry you feel that way but I hope you have a great weekend! Focus on things that make you happy! Smile.”
