KFC devotees will fondly recall the halycon days of autumn-winter 2019, when the Colonel released a massive 80-piece popcorn chicken bucket to a handful of KFC restaurants for the unbelievable price of £5.99. Those who secured the bucket – which is intended for four to share, but almost certainly devoured solo by many – revelled in the unprecedented abundance of those small, golden nuggets. Others looked on longingly from afar.

Like a blast from the past, the giant bucket has returned for KFC's month-long 'Big Deals' campaign, this time for the entire nation to enjoy. While it's unclear how many bite-size pieces are in your standard large portion – priced at £4.99 – it's certainly not 80, so upgrading for £1 seems like a no-brainer as your wallet's concerned. That's 8p per nug.

The mega deal will be available for orders in-store, drive-thru or on the brand's app or website – but again, only for take-out and drive-thru. It won't work for delivery, so you have to head down to your nearest branch to collect the gargantuan bucket in person. You'll need to get in quick, since the offer expires on May 3. However, there's no limit to the amount of times you can claim the deal. (continued below)

Whether you'd actually want to, however, is another story. For those curious about the nutritional breakdown of this deep-fried deal, each 20-piece portion contains 305 calories, 1.64g of salt and 1.79g of saturated fat. That means one bucket contains a bumper 1,220 calories. You can understand why the British Obesity Society slammed the fast-food retailer for "serving up obesity in a bucket and slowly killing its customers in the process" when they first introduced it.

If you're still hell-bent on procuring this unnecessarily large bucket of chicken, fair play to you. It won't be around for long, so grab it while you can. There are 900 branches in the UK, and you can use KFC's online restaurant finder to pin down your nearest one. Good luck.
