KFC fans, brace yourselves.

From Monday there’s a new addition to the menu that fried chicken lovers can’t get enough of.

The iconic 80-piece popcorn chicken bucket is back – but this time it costs less than you might think.

The bucket, which normally costs £5.99, is eligible for the 50% discount from the government’s Eat Out To Help Out government scheme, meaning you can get it for just £2.99.

That’s less than £3 for 80 pieces of chicken.

Diners can bag this bargain on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at participating branches, but the fast-food giant is bringing it back for a limited time only between Monday, 24 August and Sunday, 4 October.

The chain calls Eat Out To Help Out a “dream scheme” and has encouraged people to “do your bit to help your country get going again.”

A KFC spokesperson said: “Remember, it won’t be around forever – so be quick to take advantage of this incredible pop-portunity.

“Well it was such a hit that we've decided to bring it back again. The only question to ask yourself is who are the clucky friends you'll split it with?”

Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Eat Out To Help Out scheme gives you a 50% discount on any food or non-alcoholic drinks up to the value of £10 per person, but this will come to a stop at the end of August.

So, if you’re keen to get your hands on a bucket of chicken that’s less then 4p per piece you’ll have to get your skates on.

Popcorn chicken usually comes in small boxes and is classed as an ‘extra’ on the menu, with ‘regular’ portions costing £3.99 and ‘large’ priced at £5.09.

The 80-piece bucket was originally trialled in November 2019 and was so popular with customers, it was brought back for a limited time period earlier this year.

KFC has also recently launched a vegan burger for plant-based fast food lovers – so even if Kentucky fried chicken isn’t up your street, there’s Kentucky fried Quorn instead!
