Pizza Express Is Reopening
Most fast food restaurants have been forced to close their doors recently.
But now, it seems that despite the UK facing at least another few weeks of lockdown, some of our favourites are starting to reopen. Just for deliveries and takeaways, mind you.
Pizza Express is reopening
Pizza Express has made the decision to reopen some of its locations as of 28 May.
The pizza chain's managing director Zoe Bowley said that an edited menu will be on offer from restaurants in "London villages", including Notting Hill, Balham and Fulham. Takeaway and deliveries will be the only options for now.
Writing in industry newsletter Propel, she said: "We will do this to test and learn, and then it will enable us to programme the roll-out and ultimately pave the way for dine in the future.
“In recent weeks, naturally our number one priority has been to protect the safety and wellbeing of our teams and customers.
"With this in mind we opted to take some extra time to ensure our phased reopening happens in a safe and responsible way in line with Government advice.
"Fortunately our ‘At Home’ supermarket range has been proving more popular than ever for superfans craving the unmistakable taste of PizzaExpress, whilst our pizzerias have been closed.
"We’re now delighted to confirm the start of a phased delivery only trial across selected London pizzerias from Thursday 28 May.
"Once this trial has been safely completed, we’ll consider our plans for further roll out, so do keep an eye on our website and social feeds for the latest news on this.”

KFC announced this week that it will be reopening 11 of its restaurants, but will only have a limited menu on offer for delivery.
A KFC spokesperson said: “The safety of our team is a top priority for us and we’d never ask them to work in an environment which made them feel uncomfortable.
“Their returning to work is on an opt-in basis, and those who can travel to work without the use of public transport have been asked to return.
“We’ve implemented a number of measures to observe social distancing in these restaurants. This includes placing tape on the floor to create working zones two metres apart and operating with just one person per station and fewer team members.

Burger King has reopened
Four Burger King restaurants have now reopened. These are Bath Road and Eastgate in Bristol, Coventry and Swindon. This is all part of a phased-reopening of more restaurants in the next few weeks.
Again, Burger King is only open for deliveries, and the menu will be limited to fewer items than usual.
Katie Evans, the marketing director at Burger King UK, said: “We hope that reopening these restaurants for delivery services goes some way to lifting our customers’ spirits in these difficult times.”
She said the restaurants would give away 1,000 meals a week to NHS staff based nearby.
“We want to demonstrate how appreciative everyone at Burger King UK is of their efforts in these unprecedented times,” she added.
It's also been announced that 10 more branches will reopen. These will be in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dundee and Merton in London, the chain's chief executive Alasdair Murdoch told The Mail On Sunday, although exact locations are yet to be confirmed.
