Kensington Palace has released a series of adorable new photos of Prince Louis in celebration of his second birthday.

The sweet photos were taken by the Duchess of Cambridge at home this month and show the prince getting messy with paint.

In the pictures Louis is grinning at the camera, with his hands covered in a rainbow of paint.

In a second post on the Kensington Palace Instagram account, pictures of Louis showed the reality of painting with a two-year-old.

The post was captioned "Instagram vs Reality", and showed the little prince with hands towards the camera showing off his rainbow painted hands before a second picture revealed the aftermath of paint smeared all over his face.

The post continued: "Thank you for your lovely messages on Prince Louis’ second birthday 🌈. We are very pleased to share today, on Prince Louis second birthday, new photographs taken by The Duchess this April."

Royal fans can't believe how grown up Prince Louis looks and how similar he is to his older brother George.

"Really looks like prince George," one fan commented, while another added: "In the 2nd picture Louis is looking exactly like George!"

In a recent interview with BBC News, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opened up about homeschooling their children and how the family are coping with isolation.

"It's been ups and downs, like a lot of families self-isolating," the Duchess of Cambridge said, before going on to reveal how she and William have been keeping their children busy at home.

"You sort of pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake, you get to enjoy the end of the day," Kate said. "They've had a lovely time. But it is amazing how much you can cram into a day, that's for sure."
