Kensington Palace Responds to Rumors About Kate Middleton
The speculation around Kate Middleton's health reached a fever pitch this week on social media, after Prince William missed King Constantine's memorial service due to an unspecified "personal matter."
But for those hoping for updates regarding the Princess from Kensington Palace, no further news is likely coming any time soon. A spokesperson for the Princess of Wales tells Town & Country, "We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant."
In January, when announcing Kate's planned abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace said in a statement: "She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private. Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share."
The only other "significant" update the Palace shared was in late January, when Kate was discharged from the hospital, and was said to be recuperating at home at Adelaide Cottage. "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress," Kensington Palace said in a statement at the time. "The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."
Today, Prince William visited a synagogue, where he did not provide any updates on his wife's health, but did receive a bouquet of flowers to give her.
