From ELLE

Whether it was being obsessed with Superstars as a kid (and demanding mum Kris bought her a pair) or her infamous tomboy-ish street style, it's say to safe Kendall Jenner is a fan of adidas.

Last September, the model worked with young designer Daniëlle Cathari on a collection shown at New York Fashion Week. One year later, and she's back at it again - this time teaming up with up and coming Olivia Oblanc, who's designed a new adidas Originals collection.

You might not know Oblanc name, but you certainly will soon. One year after graduating from Parsons (one of the most prestigious design schools in the world), she's been racking up awards – the CDFA’s Geoffery Beene Design Scholarship, the Hugo Boss Award, and Parsons 2017 Designer of the Year, to name just a few.

So, really, it comes as no surprise that the German sportswear brand came calling.

Her new (and first) adidas collection is pretty special, too. As Oblanc explains, she began by 'looking at vintage Adidas garments,' like old jackets and polos from the ’70s and ’90s. According to Jenner, who helped curate the collab, it 'really shows how workwear and streetwear can be combined.'

Ahead of the global launch tomorrow, we checked out the collection in London and can confirm it's super wearable. Whether it's the oversized yellow puffer or utilitarian cargo pants (with a reimagined adidas logo), there's something for everyone.

Here ELLE UK speaks to Kendall about the 15-piece collection, working with Olivia and who the sportiest Kardashian is.

Do you remember the first adidas item you owned?
Oh my god, so much. My mum used to dress me and my little sister in literally full adidas tracksuits. Even if it was just a top and pants, I have so many photos - I can't even count - of us in adidas. I think that’s all my mum put us in, she was like ‘this is the best.’

And trainers?
Yeah, literally everything. I can vividly remember sitting in my backyard by my pool, and those…I don’t even know what the style is called? The traditional adidas shoe, with the little toe?

The Superstars?

Yeah! Everyone was really into those heavy, chunky shoes. I remember being really young and telling my Mum: ‘I need those shoes. Please can I get them for Christmas? Please?’ I had to have them, no matter what.

What is it about adidas that keeps you coming back again and again?
Everything is so timeless and classic. I’m not kidding, I’m very happy about this collaboration – it’s arguable one of my favourite things to be a part of right now. Olivia is awesome and super talented so it was very easy for me to be like ‘yes!’.

For people who don’t know Olivia Oblanc – can you describe her vibe/style?
Oh no, I’m the worst with these one worders. Is industrial the right word? It’s very cool. It feels very London to me. Being here feels right. London cool kids will wear this so well.

Favourite piece from the collection?
The yellow puffer jacket. I can’t wait to wear it snowboarding.

You nail tomboy/streetwear dressing – any tips on how to do that?

It’s a very chilled lifestyle. The reason I like dressing like a boy is because I’m the comfortable that way and feel like I can do anything and everything. I think it’s fun to be able to dress up, in heels and dresses, and I like to have a sexy vibe. But I honestly can't wait to take my heels off. Just ask my hair and make-up team. Every day I’m like: ‘can I get no make-up and minimal hair?’ They hate me some days. They flew ten hours to just straighten my hair..

How many pairs of trainers do you have?
Oh my god, so many. I couldn’t even tell you.

Like a ballpark?

I don’t know. Like seventy to eighty?

That’s quite reasonable.

Oh really? That makes me feel better about it. I have an entire closet in my house that is designated to adidas. It’s two huge ceiling-to-floor racks of just shoes. It’s gnarly, but it’s the best room in my house.

Who is the sportiest Kardashian Jenner?
Probably me. Or Khloe. No probably me. I grew up playing every sport, I was the biggest tomboy. I dressed like a boy for the majority of my life.

How do you de-stress?
I have my little ways: I like to meditate, I love essential oils and things to calm me down. I have little homeopathic things that I like to do. I have remedies.

What about switching off your phone?

Yeah, I like to throw my phone away, or leave it in another room. Sometimes I find myself – and I’m sure we all fall victim to this – grabbing my phone for no reason when I’m just going into my bathroom or closet. And I’m like, why am I grabbing my phone? I’m not even using it, I’m just grabbing it because it’s a habit. So now I set it down and leave it for a couple of hours. It's the best feeling when you forget that your phone is there

Or when it runs out of batter and you don’t have a charger…

That gives me anxiety, sadly. That really does give me anxiety. I don’t like it. Clearly I'm not that good at this!
