Kelvin Fletcher’s wife Liz has said she doesn’t get worried by his steamy Strictly Come Dancing routines - because she’s already watched him kiss some of the sexiest women in the country on Emmerdale.

The former soap star, who played Andy Sugden in the ITV soap for 20 years, is currently one of the Grand Final favourites on Strictly, where he has become known for his intimate routines with Oti Mabuse that have left viewers and judges flustered.

But despite the BBC contest being known for the Strictly Curse, where many celebrities have got together with their dance partners during training, one woman who isn’t worried is Fletcher’s wife Liz.

In an interview with Hello! magazine, she said of his dances: “It doesn’t bother me. I’m used to seeing him kiss Britain’s sexiest females on Emmerdale.

“I know the biggest part of a dance is the story and making it believable. I understand it’s a performance. Although I can imagine it’s difficult for people who aren’t in this industry.”

Fletcher and Mabuse’s raunchy routines have included a Rumba described as “filth” by Craig Revel Horwood, which prompted judge Motsi Mabuse, the dancer’s older sister, to jokingly scold him: “I was like, ‘hold on Kelvin, that’s my sister, stop it!’.”

Having entered the competition as a stand-in for injured Jamie Laing, Fletcher has won over hordes of fans - including head judge Shirley Ballas, who often has to fan herself after the muscly actor’s hip-wiggling performances.

Liz admitted she was just as transfixed by her husband’s dancing as any fan, saying: "When I see him dancing, I fall in love with him all over again. I’m unaware of anyone else in the room – I can’t take my eyes off him.”

Fletcher will compete for the Glitterball Trophy in this weekend’s Strictly final against CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual and EastEnders star Emma Barton.
