Kelly Rowland has opened up about being compared to Beyoncé during their time in Destiny's Child saying it was like "torture".

In the latest episode of The Voice Australia Kelly opens up to contestant Chris Sebastian, who is struggling with feeling overshadowed by his older brother, telling him, "I know this feeling... can you imagine what it’s like being in a group with Beyoncé?"

Speaking about her experience of being in the group with Beyoncé she said, "I would just torture myself in my head. Like, I can’t wear this dress because they’re going to say it’s like B. Or, I can’t have a song like that because it sounds too much like B. They’re gonna compare anyways," she told the contestant.

"I would be lying if I said no, it’s never bothered me - that’s bull," she continued. "There was a whole decade, if I am being completely honest, a decade, where it was like the elephant in the room. It was the thing that would constantly be on my shoulder."

Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé first came together in group Girl's Tyme in Houston in 1990 alongside LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett, before being signed to Columbia Records as Destiny's Child in 1997, before line up changes in the early 2000's led to Michelle Williams replacing Roberson and Luckett, leading to the band we all know and love.
