Following Sunday's (2 October) show, Kaye Adams has spoken about her elimination from Strictly Come Dancing.

Appearing on It Takes Two with partner Kai Widdrington, the Loose Women star spoke with host Rylan Clark about her departure from the contest, which was confirmed when the couple lost to Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova in the series’ first dance-off.

Referencing her Charleston on Saturday’s live show, Kaye said: “I did it as well as I could. As I’ve said from the beginning, I’m not a dancer but I gave it everything that I could.”

Despite being knocked out of the competition, Rylan said Kaye looked like a “new woman” for her second performance, referencing how she appeared to conquer her first week nerves.

Kaye credited this newfound confidence to her partner, saying: “This man should be a motivational coach. I’ve learned so much from Kai, even beyond dancing."

Crediting his attitude to “competing” and “coaching”, Kaye praised Kai for helping her get ready for the dance-off, which she said she found “really difficult”.

After claiming she “lucked out” in being paired with Kai, Kaye said she thought the comments from the judges were “fair” on Saturday night, which saw her score 22 points, before paying tribute to the other contestants in the show.

“There’s so many wonderful dancers [on the show],” said Kaye. “Molly’s [Rainford] dance at the end was a joy to watch. Tyler [West] is going to be amazing. Richie [Anderson] and Helen [Skelton] as well.”

After viewing a montage of her best bits, Kaye was visibly emotional, saying her stint on the show had been “fantastic” and that meeting Kai was a “privilege”.

The professional then commended his partner, saying: "I hope you can take away joy, because that was our main thing, that you enjoyed it and had fun.

"I think you can look back with fond memories and be glad that you said yes to do this."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows also stream on BBC iPlayer.
