Katy Perry went all political with her outfit at the Grammys 2017
In the world of Donald Trump undermining minority groups as and when he can, some celebrities are refusing to stay quiet.
Katy Perry was the most recent face. During her performance at last night’s Grammys, she donned a white Tom Ford tux with an armband reading ‘PERSIST’ in pink sequins.
The word follows a social media storm after an incident last week in which Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren was silenced on the Senate floor with Senate leader Mitch McConnall stating: “She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”
Katy – who was a fervent supporter of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton – appeared to channel her icon in a white pantsuit; the same outfit that caused a surge in white suit sales.
The suit also featured the Planned Parenthood logo on the lapel; a detail that would have been missed by the audience.
As the singer finished her performance of new single Chained to the Rhythm, a projection of the United States Constitution was shown onstage.
Katy’s red carpet look didn’t carry on the political theme. She wore a full Tom Ford look consisting of a tight-fitting sequinned top with a feathered skirt.
