If you don’t know about the upcoming summer hair trends for 2022 by now, you've come to the right place. We have two contenders for the top spot. In one corner, it's mermaid beach waves, as seen on the likes of Khloe Kardashian, Zendaya, and Kendall Jenner. But in the other, we have the slicked back bun with piece-y face-framing strands (aka ‘Tinkerbell’ hair), which both Megan Fox and Nicola Coughlan modelled on Instagram.

Now, everyone’s fav Teenage Dreams singer (cue the nostalgia), Katy Perry, has only gone and jumped on the hair trend train, posting her own interpretation of the latter on IG.

The American singer-songwriter is know for her OTT hairstyles – remember her 2014 pink hair phrase? So iconic. But as of late, Katy has opted for more of a natural colour and some styles that we're sure you, too, could recreate at home. We saw her rock the Megan Fox-esque dark sleek wet hair look, but this time she has chosen to tame her long locks in sleek updo bun with wavy strands framing the face.

Celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, whose clientele includes Kylie Jenner, Shay Mitchell, and Kim Kardashian, was the artist behind this latest look.

Accompanying the chic 'do, the American Idol judge is sporting a glam makeup look that is giving us all the spring/summer vibes. Michael Anthony, Katy's go-to MUA, has given the star a soft sunset eyeshadow look with a coral peach-toned lip. Very on-brand for a sunny Easter holiday.

As I previously said, we really do think this style is doable for us folk without a glam squad. All you need is a fine bristle brush, a gel or spray of your choice, and a whole lotta confidence in your hairstyling abilities.
