Katy Perry has revealed that she has an argumentative relationship with fiance Orlando Bloom – and that's why their partnership works.
The singer announced the couple were expecting their first child last week in her new music video, but she was quick to point out that the famous pair don't subscribe to the idea of a traditionally perfect relationship, often challenging each other.
Appearing on Ryan Seacrest's US radio show On Air With Perry said: 'There’s a lot of friction between my partner and I, but that friction breeds something beautiful, it can breed a lot of light.'
She added that she hadn't been in a relationship like that before, but it's the reason they're so strong together.
'It’s just one of those relationships,' Perry told Seacrest. 'I don’t know about anyone else who’s listening what kind of relationships they’ve had – and I’ve had many – but it’s like we basically, we get down to the mat and come back up every time.
'I have consciously or unconsciously picked a partner that makes sure I keep evolving into the best version of myself.'
Bloom and Perry got engaged in February 2019 when he proposed after three years of dating. Last week, the singer announced the lovely news that she's expecting, saying:
'I’m excited, we’re excited, and happy. It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music. While it’s not the lead single, it’s a good way to start out. I had to reveal it [the pregnancy] at some point...It's getting pretty obvious.'
Bloom is already a father to nine-year-old son Flynn, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
