Katy Perry regrets getting spray tan before music video shoot

Katy Perry regrets getting a spray tan mere hours before she shot a major music video.

During an interview for Vogue's Life in Looks series, the popstar recalled how she made a beauty faux pas the night before filming the whimsical promo for her 2010 hit song California Gurls.

"Rarely do I get spray tans, and typically you're supposed to get them the night before. Well, I just didn't have time. So, I got them the day of my music video," she recounted of the shoot. "When you get a tan the morning of your music video, your colour changes gradually throughout the day. So, I just kept on getting oranger and oranger and oranger."

And while editors tried to adjust the Firework singer's skin tone to compensate for the spray tan in post-production, fans will be able to spot the moments in the video where her tan had started to develop.

"We had to spend so much extra money on colour-grading this music video because in one part of the video, I'm this colour orange, and then I'm this colour orange in the next part of the music video," the 38-year-old sighed, adding: "Kids, just a little tip: fake tans, night before."
