From Cosmopolitan

Say what you want about 2020, there’s no denying it’s been one hell of a year for celebrity babies. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have just announced they’ve welcomed their daughter into the world and, honestly, this is the kind of happy news we need right now.

Katy and Orlando announced the news with UNICEF via an article titled "The most precious gift: A healthy child." They welcomed a healthy baby girl named Daisy Dove Bloom on August 26.

A picture of the couple holding Daisy's teeny hand was uploaded to the UNICEF Instagram page, and captioned: "Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and @OrlandoBloom’s new bundle of joy.⠀

“'We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,' Katy and Orlando told us."

Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and @OrlandoBloom’s new bundle of joy.⠀ ⠀ “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” Katy and Orlando told us.⠀ ⠀ “But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.⠀ ⠀ “As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare. In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival. By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child. We hope your ♥️ can bloom with generosity.⠀ ⠀ Gratefully-⠀ ⠀ Katy & Orlando.”⠀ ⠀ Please tap the link in our bio to support the most precious gift: a healthy child.

The singer, who got engaged to actor Orlando on Valentine’s Day 2019, confirmed her pregnancy in early March after debuting a bump in her music video, 'Never Worn White'.

"There’s a lot that’s happening this summer. Not only will I be giving birth, literally, and figuratively… to something you guys have been waiting for," she told fans.

"I’m excited, we’re excited, and happy. It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music. While it’s not the lead single, it’s a good way to start out. I had to reveal it [the pregnancy] at some point. It’s getting pretty obvious."

The following month, in an adorable Instagram post, she revealed they were expecting a baby girl.

She also recently released song 'Daisies', which may or may not have inspired her daughter's name.

Katy has been very open and honest about her pregnancy journey, whether it's been telling fans about her swollen hands and feet or her growing belly button. During a recent interview on an Australian radio show, she told the hosts that falling pregnant has given her a newfound appreciation for her body, having now seen all the things it's capable of.

"I’m really grateful for my body, and I have so much respect for other women going through this process," she explained. "You get a whole new viewpoint being pregnant."

Katy added, "But everything is swollen! My hands are swollen, and my feet are starting to swell!"

Shortly before welcoming her daughter, she also revealed the nickname she has for the tot. Speaking to The Guardian's Laura Snapes, Katy talked about how the baby and the release of her fifth studio album, 'Smile', were due to all come on the same day until production delays meant the record would move to the end of August. And while telling the story, Katy referred to her daughter as "Kicky Perry," saying that is what she and Orlando call her.

As for pregnancy cravings, the 'Swish Swish' star told fans early on in her pregnancy that she soon became obsessed with spicy food. "I like, literally, never cared for spice, and now, I have to carry Tabasco sauce in my purse like that woman. Like, I am that woman. I am Karen with her Tabasco sauce. Some people have essential oils, and I have Tabasco sauce... I've been eating the same burrito for weeks on end," she said during an Instagram Live. Now she'll be swapping Tabasco sauce for a bag full of baby essentials...

Huge congratulations on your bundle of joy, Katy and Orlando! If you want to donate to UNICEF in honor of Daisy Dove, you can do so here.
