Singer Katy Perry and her fiancé Orlando Bloom have welcomed their first child together.

The couple shared the exciting news via UNICEF, a charity that works to help and protect children and young people around the word, and of which the couple are both Goodwill Ambassadors.

A statement from the happy couple was published to the UNICEF Twitter account, alongside an adorable photo of the family of three holding hands

The black and white picture shows their daughter with her fingers wrapped around Orlando's thumb and Katy's fingers.

The statement also revealed the baby girl's sweet name, Daisy Dove Bloom! And it seems mum Katy paid tribute to her daughter through her choice of nail art. The star can be seen with a small daisy flower painted on her thumb nail in the picture.

The couple also acknowledged the challenges pregnant women and newborns around the world face, especially during the current coronavirus pandemic.

Alongside the picture, they couple wrote: "We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter."

They added:"But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every 11 seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies.

"Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of... lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.

"As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare.

"In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page... By supporting UNICEF, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child.

"We hope your {heart} can bloom with generosity."
